Youth Connexions Service

This is an organisation that provides information, advice, guidance and support, and personal development opportunities for all 13-19 year olds (up to 25 years for young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities).  Advice and support is available through a Personal Adviser whose job it is to help young people to get the most out of their education and smooth the path into their working life.

 How does it work?

The service brings together all the services and support that young people might need, including…:

• Practical help on courses, education, and careers
• Activities, such as sport, arts or volunteering
• Advice and support on drugs, sexual health and homelessness

Youth Connexions have local branches.  The contact details for Hertfordshire’s Youth Connexions service can be found in the Help Lines section, where you can also find details of the Connexions national website.

Personal Advisers work with young people on a one to one basis from various locations such as schools, colleges, drop-in and community centres.  All young people should have contact with a Personal Adviser through their school.  If you are not in school you can find out where to contact your nearest Youth Connexions Service and get help from a Personal Adviser by ringing the national Connexions Direct telephone number, 080 800 13 2 19.  You can text them on 07766 413219 or visit the website at: www.connexions-direct.com.

For personal development opportunities, Youth Connexions runs projects throughout the county that encourage young people to participate in and enjoy various activities. Many of these activities also lead to a recognised award or certificate that can not only give you a sense of achievement and develop your skills but also expand your cv.
