Privacy

When "looked after” you have some rights about your privacy.

You have the right to keep your personal things in a safe and private place, such as your bedroom.

Other people do not have the right to look in this safe and private place unless there is a really good reason to think that there may be illegal, stolen or dangerous things kept in that place.

You have the right to use the bathroom and toilet in private and also to dress and undress in private.

You have the right to use the telephone in private and the right not to have personal details about yourself and your life discussed with people who do not need to know about them.

Sometimes it may seem as though other people are preventing you from having these rights.  Sometimes this may be because it is more important to keep you or another child safe than protect anybody’s privacy.
