Important decisions

Whilst you are at school you will have to make some decisions about:

What subjects to study in years 10 and 11?

Which exams to take

What kind of work experience you’d like

- What you want to do when you’re 16 – education, training or work

It is important to try and think ahead when making these sorts of decisions. Everyone needs help when trying to decide important things so talk to as many people as you can to get their thoughts and ideas.  The Youth Connexions Service is there to help you with these decisions.  A Youth Connexions Personal Adviser who works in the school, but who is not a part of the school, will spend time helping you look at your options, deciding what’s best for you and supporting you in achieving your goals.  Your form teacher will be able to tell you how to contact them or there might be a ‘drop-in’ in the school or college Youth Connexions library where you can just call in for a quick chat.

If you are not in school you can find out where to contact your nearest Youth Connexions Service and get help from a Personal Adviser by ringing the national Connexions Direct telephone number, 080 800 13 2 19.  You can text them on 07766 413219 or email them at www.connexions-direct.com

You need to consider how you personally learn best and what you might want to do in the future. It is often a good idea to choose subjects or training that help you keep your options open for the future.

There should be a number of people who will help you in thinking about making these important decisions and remember to ask as many questions as you need in order to get all the information that you need.
