Catching up
Sometimes you may find that you need extra help to catch up if you’ve missed some school for various reasons. Many pupils need some kind of extra support during their time at school, so there is no need to worry about it.
Talk to someone as soon as you feel that you may be falling behind with your work.
If you need extra support with anything ask your carers to meet with your designated teacher, form tutor or head of year to talk about what support you might need. The Advisory Teacher is also there to help you. If you need or want extra tuition after school to help you with examinations it can be arranged.
If you have a learning difficulty or a disability you should have extra support at school and at home. You may have a Statement of Special Educational Needs to show what support you should be given.
Sometimes it can be hard to concentrate if you have worries to deal with. It can also be difficult to make friends, especially if you move schools. There are lots of people that you could talk to about your worries. You could speak to your social worker, someone at school, your carers, your advisory teacher or you could contact some of the people or organisations listed in the Help Lines section of this website.
