Homework
Every school expects its pupils to do homework. How much homework they expect you to do should be set out in your Home- School Agreement or in your schools homework policy. Your carer should support you in doing your homework by making sure that:
You have a table and chair in a quiet place to do your homework.
You do not have to work in a room where there are other children playing or where there is lots of noise.
There are all kinds of books, magazines and newspapers available for you to read where you live.
They check and sign your homework diary if you have one.
If your school has a homework club it is a good idea to use it. It can be easier to stay on a bit longer at school to get your homework done. All the books and equipment that you need are there and there is usually a teacher on hand to help.
Your teachers should expect you to do your homework and expect that it is done to the same standards as everyone else.
If you have problems with homework you could talk to your carers, social worker, tutor, advisory teacher, advocate or designated teacher – there are a lot of people around you who may be able to help.
