Supporting you in Education

Your carer should have regular contact with your school. This could be your foster carer or your link worker in your children’s home or your social worker. Your carer should make sure that you go to school everyday and that you do your homework.

Every school has a Home-School Agreement that is given to every parent or carer. It sets out what the school offers and what it expects from you in return. If your carers have not been given a copy, they should ask your tutor to send one.

Everyone needs encouragement. It may help you to do better at school if someone is taking an interest in your education. You should certainly be encouraged and praised when you do well. If you feel that no one is supporting you like this, please tell your social worker, teacher or advocate.

All schools will have at least one Youth Connexions Personal Adviser.  If you are between 13 and 19 years old you can contact them and they will advocate on your behalf to the school and help you make the most of in-school and out of school activities.  You should find their names on notice boards in the library or telephone 01462 705000.
