Personal Education Plan (PEP)
This is a plan about your education. It is a bit like the care plan that you get when you come into care. Your PEP looks at four things to do with your education.
Your PEP will make sure that:
• All your aims, progress and achievements both in school and out are recorded
• You have all the help that you need and want at school
• The people that need to know are aware of any special needs that you have
• You don’t change school unnecessarily
Your PEP is all about:
• Keeping a record of all the successes you have
• The skills, knowledge and experiences you need to obtain through your education
• The things that you want to achieve in the near future
• Your progress and your career plans
Anyone who leaves care between the ages of 16 and 18 will have a Pathway Plan, to help you work out what to do next. The Pathway Planning Process will continue until you reach the age of 21 or 25 for those young adults who request it.
The Personal Education Plan will inform the education section of the Pathway Plan. For young people who remain in school a Pathway Plan will be written but the PEP will continue as the main document to help plan your education.
As well as education, the Pathway Plan will cover training and work, where you will live and what support you’ll have including money to live on.
