Children’s Guardians (Guardian Ad Litem)
The court that is considering whether or not you ought to be placed on a Care Order will ask a person called a “Children’s Guardian” to talk to you, your family and your social worker. The job of the Children’s Guardian is to find out as much as possible about what is the best thing for you. It is really important to talk to the Children’s Guardian because they can tell the court exactly what you want to happen.
Children’s Guardians are people who are trained social workers, but who do not work for Children, Schools and Families. They are “independent”, which means that they are not on anyone’s side, but try to look at everyone’s side to work out what is best for a child or young person.
