In Care or Looked After

When people talk about a child or young person being "in care" or "“looked after” they often mean children that are on a “Care Order” or are “accommodated”.

Being “looked after” means children or young people who are “looked after” by Children, Schools and Families (or in other parts of the country by “Social Services”).  You may also hear people talk about “children looked after ” or “children in public care”.  These all mean the same thing as “in care”.
