Child Protection Register
The Child Protection Conference will also decide whether or not a child’s name should go on "a list of Children Subject to a Child Protection Plan”. This is a list of names of children in the county who social workers and others think may be hurt in the future or have been in the past. The purpose is to make sure that these children are especially well looked after and that social workers keep a careful watch to make sure they are not hurt again.
Children’s names appear on the list if they have been physically or sexually abused, or if professionals think this may happen in the future. Children’s names are also added to the list if they have been neglected or hurt emotionally by others, or if people think this may happen in the future.
A child’s name does not stay on this list forever. Every six months professionals involved meet for “A Child Protection Case Review” and see how things are for that child and their family, and decide whether or not their name should stay on it for the next 6 months.
