Criminal Injury Compensation

If you have been physically or sexually hurt you can claim compensation.  This is money paid out to victims of crimes.  The case need not have gone to court for you to be able to claim this money.

If you are under 18 any money that you get as compensation must be kept safe for you until you are 18 or 21.  If you get some money but don’t think it is enough you can appeal.  You should discuss the idea of compensation with your social worker or carer.  They can also help you decide how best to save or spend the money for your future.
