Legal Aid

If you are going to court for any reason and need a solicitor but can’t afford to pay for one, you can apply for Legal Aid.  This means that your solicitor’s fees are paid for you.  You have to apply to the Law Society.  You can find out how to do this by talking to your social worker or carer.  For example, if you are appealing against a Care Order or a Supervision Order and the Law Society thinks that you have a good reason to appeal, they will give you Legal Aid and pay for your solicitor.
