Residence Order
This is another type of Order that a court can make about where you live. This Order says that you can live with someone who is not your parent. It is not a Care Order and not the same as being “accommodated”.
A Residence Order gives the person that you are living with “parental responsibility” to make decisions about you and to care for you as if you were their own child. However, it is not the same as being “adopted”, because they are not legally your new family. They are just caring for you.
If you have been with the same foster family for three years they may apply for a “Residence Order” so that they can have parental responsibility.
