Solicitors
If you have to go to court because you have been arrested for committing an offence or because of a problem with your family, you will need a solicitor. A solicitor is a person who will tell the court “your side” of things. They can make sure that your views are heard and help you appeal against the making of a Court Order or help you to apply for a Court Order to be discharged.
Usually the court will make sure that a solicitor is arranged to work for you. If you want to get one yourself, it is a good idea to find one who knows as much as possible about children and the law. You can get the names of some solicitors who know about children and legal stuff from the Citizens Advice Bureau, the Law Society or from the Children’s Legal Centre (see Help lines and Useful Numbers).
