If you live on your own it is always wise to get insurance to protect your personal belongings from fire, theft etc.

If you are living in a foster family they may have insurance that would help to pay for their belongings and your things if they got stolen or damaged in a fire or in a flood.  Ask your carers about this if you are worried.

If you are living in a Children’s Home, it can be very difficult to get the money to replace things that are stolen from within the Children’s Home.  This is why it is important to keep your things in your room and your bedroom door locked when you are not around.  You should talk to your Link Worker or to the Manager of the Children’s Home about what would happen if any of your things were lost or damaged while you are living there.
