Work Experience

All young people in year 10 or 11 are usually offered a period of work experience for about two weeks. You should have a say in choosing the kind of work experience you’d like to try. Make sure you know all that you need to about your placement before you start work, such as, how you are going to get there, what you should wear and what time you need to be there.

Talk to the person responsible for you at work, or to the teacher who organised the placement about how things are going, especially if you are unhappy about anything.

If you miss your work experience for any reason it may be possible to rearrange a different type. (See Participation Team) Ask your social worker to ring the Participation Team to discuss.
